Unilateral extraterritoriality

Come on Ireland where is that independent spirit, and what price 'Neutrality' now?

The story - US INVESTIGATORS, including CIA agents, will be allowed interrogate Irish citizens on Irish soil in total secrecy, under an agreement signed between Ireland and the US last week.

This may well be a breach of the European Convention of Human Rights... vigilance needed at home too. Ireland of course does not have a proper 'Liberal Party', does it?

violence and responsibility

A thought from Quaker experience

Conscientious objection is not a total repudiation of force; it is a refusal to surrender moral responsibility for one's action. (Quaker Faith and Practice 24.25)

I hold the killers in the present London outrage morally responsible for their actions, without mitigation or excuses. Nothing else justifies this

I hold myself responsible to take on matters done in my name such as the assaults on Fallujah, without reservations or appeals to expediency. To each event its own and no surrenders of responsibility.

2012 and all that

Don’t want to hog bandwidth and the images are copyright anyway, so just imagine this Olympic cartoon.

Bart Simpson confronts a certain M. Chirac and the Bart speech bubble is:

“Eat My Food!”
